What is the difference between a yorkie, maltese, and shi tzu?

I am planning to get a new pup. I cant decide between a yorkie, maltese, and shi tzu. Please tell me the positves and negatives and differences. Thanxx.
XOXO

I can suggest reading up on each breed and then deciding for yourself which one fits your life best. They’re all very similar in that they’re strictly companion dogs. They weren’t really bred for anything other than being a pet. They all require professional grooming, and regularly, if you want them looking their best. So that can get pricey. They all tend to be kind of yappy, with the shih-tzu possibly being the least yappy. At least that’s what I’ve found being exposed to them all. I work at a veterinary hospital. They can each have health problems that are specific to their breeds as well as specific to just being small breeds. The health problems are usually worse if they came from a pet store, just because of the bad conditions they’re raised in from birth and the fact that no testing is done on the parents.

So there’s my advice. Research all 3, read as much as you can, then make your choice. :] But personally, I like shih-tzus the best out of all 3.

i recommend rescuing a dog from your local animal shelter
the dogs there are just as good was the ones from the breeders
and the dogs at the shelters get put down if they are there to long
you would be helping keep a dog from being killed
and in my opinion there shouldn’t be dog breeds
    there should just be dogs
because people always want a pure bread dog
and if there were no breeds people would just want a loving companion

You have Access to the net, do your research! People on this forum who own them will only give you bias opinions based on their pets, and lets face it, we all love our own pets! not a real idea of whether this breed would suit you or your lifestyle or financial situation. Talk to people at shelters. And to be honest, personality wise, there isnt a big difference between the 3, I would be looking at each breeds predisposed health problems as a guide for which would be the best.

Well, I breed all 3 and they are all wonderful dogs! If you have kids i would strongly recommend a Shih-tzu they are sweet and loving!!! Yorkie’s and Maltese’s origanted from the same type dogs so in ways they are very similar i’ve noticed some dogs (Not mine) that they are aggressive, my Maltese’s are Yappy, but my Maltese Gracie is fun loving, aaffectionate loves to play, she is a great little dog, as well as being beautiful! Both Yorkies and Mateses can be hard to potty train and Shih-tzus tend to be very easy to potty train. Any of the breeds are a great choice, if you have aany other questions i would be happy to answer them for you!
